As you may already know, in May we set off as part of the InterBridge project on a photography excursion with photographers from Bautzen and participants from the University of the Third Age at TUL. We visited the Nová Perla Gallery in Kyjov and the former military area of Ralsko. The trip resulted in a whole range of interesting and original photographs. We not only evaluated them in a small photography competition, but would also like to show them to the public.
Each participant could submit their best photographs from the excursion, which were then evaluated anonymously by the participants themselves. The final ranking was therefore decided by photographers from both sides of the border, not by the organisers.
And the results? Mr Frieder Molineus from Bautzen took first and third place, while Mr Miroslav Kříž from Nový Bor came second. Both winners received symbolic prizes from us – vouchers for photography equipment from an online photography shop. Congratulations once again!
Interestingly, the differences in the scores were often very small. In some cases, just a few tenths of a point decided the ranking. We therefore see the results primarily as a friendly comparison and a joint selection of photographs that best captured the atmosphere of our May trip.
And now it is time for the exhibition we promised. We have selected approximately thirty photographs from the submitted entries. We did not base our selection solely on the competition results – this time, I also allowed myself a little curatorial intervention. I wanted the final collection to be varied, to present different perspectives of the participants and, above all, to avoid having ten staircases, ten bridges and ten beds on rooftops.
The first exhibition will take place from September 9th to 14th, 2026 in the hall in front of the main auditorium in Building G at TUL and should be titled FORGOTTEN IN TIME / ZAPOMENUTÉ V ČASE. Further exhibition venues will follow.
As for the e-publication, we are currently considering whether to publish a separate e-book or devote a separate chapter to the photographs in the upcoming collection of works created within the InterBridge project. In any case, all of the competition photographs – approximately one hundred in total – will eventually be published.
Once again, I would like to thank all the photographers for taking part, for the time they devoted to evaluating the photographs and for the great atmosphere throughout the whole event. And now I am looking forward to seeing the selected photographs at the exhibition – to which I warmly invite you!
