Vyšehrad, historic churches, a cruise on the Vltava River and music. The joint InterBridge excursion offered a day of discovery, cultural exchange and Czech-German cooperation.

On 15 October 2026, Prague became a meeting place for Czech and German experts involved in the InterBridge project, which connects science, technology and art. The joint excursion brought together representatives of the Technical University of Liberec, Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC), the Museum of Local History and Gallery in Česká Lípa, and the Association for the Restoration of Lenten Veils in Zittau. The aim was not only to explore the architectural and cultural landmarks of the Czech capital, but also to exchange experience and strengthen cooperation between the Czech and German partners.

The participants visited Vyšehrad and the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary at Na Trávníčku, on Na Slupi Street. The church is also of particular interest because of its architectural links between the Czech Republic and Germany. It has been used by the Orthodox Church since the mid-1990s, and its architectural counterpart is the Church of the Holy Cross in Zittau, built according to the same plans. The group then enjoyed a cruise on the Vltava River, offering a unique view of Prague’s landmarks. The day concluded with a concert featuring singing accompanied by the organ at the Church of St Francis of Assisi.

A prominent member of the German delegation was Dr Roman Kopřiva from Zittau, a literary scholar, Germanist and translator from German. Throughout the day, he enriched the excursion with literary and historical insights and helped bridge not only language barriers but also cultural differences. He thus became a natural link between the Czech and German participants.

The day once again demonstrated that architecture, history and art can serve as a natural bridge between people and institutions from different countries. International cooperation does not emerge solely from formal meetings. It often develops through the shared exploration of cultural heritage, the exchange of knowledge and conversations that allow participants to discover not only new places but also one another.

The InterBridge project creates precisely these opportunities for people from both sides of the border to meet and build connections.
