The InterBridge lecture series concludes with a talk on the architecture of Chemnitz and Liberec

The InterBridge project is gradually approaching its conclusion, and we wanted to bring our lecture series to a close in a symbolic way. As architecture is one of the topics we are focusing on in the final stage of the project, we turned our attention to the cities of our two project partners: Chemnitz and Liberec.
Ing. arch. Helena Hlávková, who has been involved in our project since around its halfway point, prepared a fascinating talk for the public entitled: How Has the Industrial Past Shaped the Cities of Liberec and Chemnitz?
The lecture took place on 13 October in the glass-walled conference room on the second floor of the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation at the Technical University of Liberec.
The talk offered an engaging insight into the connections between the development of the textile and automotive industries and the architecture of both cities. One particularly valuable aspect was that Ms Hlávková had personally visited and documented most of the sites she discussed. Her presentation was accompanied by numerous photographs she had taken herself in Liberec and Chemnitz, illustrating architectural details, industrial buildings and the transformation of the urban environment.
The lecture was both informative and inspiring, offering plenty to reflect on about how industry has shaped our cities and the legacy it has left behind.
We also recorded the lecture. By the end of the year, we plan to edit the recording, add Czech and German subtitles, and publish it on the InterBridge project’s YouTube channel so that others can watch it too.
InterBridge continues to bring technology, history and culture together and to explore fascinating connections between the Czech and Saxon regions, even as the project enters its final few months.
