Forgotten in time – urbex in photography
From 9 to 14 September 2026, the exhibition “Forgotten in time” was on display in the hall in front of the university auditorium in Building G. It was created as part of the InterBridge project as a follow-up to the joint Czech-German photography excursion.
In May, members of the German photography club Fotofreunde Bautzen met Czech photographers from the University of the Third Age at TUL, students of Creative Photography. Together, they visited, among other places, the Nová Perla gallery in Kyjov near Krásná Lípa and the abandoned site of the former military area in Ralsko-Ploužnice. The atmosphere of these places became the inspiration for the photographs.
Of the approximately 100 photographs submitted by the participants after the excursion for the joint photography competition, around one third was selected for the exhibition. The selection presents different perspectives on abandoned and forgotten places, their architecture, details and traces of their former life.
Unfortunately, due to the university's heavily booked exhibition spaces, the exhibition could only be shown for a relatively short time. This is all the more a pity because the photographs offered not only an interesting exploration of the world of urbex, but also very different Czech and German perspectives on the same places.
But the exhibition does not end in Liberec. We also plan to present part of the selection at the beginning of November in Kamenický Šenov, where we are preparing the third major group exhibition of the InterBridge project. We will keep you informed about it in good time.
