In mid-June, we moved our exhibition “Interwoven: Science – Art – Future” from the Taupunkt Theatre to a new venue – this time directly to our project partners at TU Chemnitz. The figures Adam and Eva made their way to the yellow showroom of the Institute of Lightweight Structures MERGE, where cutting-edge materials and products are usually on display.

For Adam, it was basically a homecoming – his outfit is made from fiber composites developed right here at this institute, typically for the automotive or aerospace industries. This time, however, the researchers got to see their materials in a completely different role – as part of an art object.

Eva’s dress, made from recycled plastics, silk and gold nanoparticles, complemented the atmosphere of the showroom, where technical demonstrators usually dominate. We also added our InterBridge project roll-up banner to make it clear that this is a joint Czech-German project.

The installation itself had its dramatic moments – just as we arrived at the university campus, a heavy thunderstorm broke out, with torrential rain and hail. Our colleague Johannes heroically ran through the downpour to show us where to park, while I, cowardly, stayed safely in the car until the rain calmed down a bit. At least this time, we were spared the heat that accompanied our first installation in Chemnitz.

So Adam and Eva paid a visit to the Technical University of Chemnitz for a while before continuing their journey. At the end of the year, they will take part in a large final exhibition at the University Gallery N in Jablonec nad Nisou, where all the outcomes of our joint InterBridge project will come together.
